Band: Cry Blood
From: Greenville, South Carolina
Their formation story:
(Zak, guitars): “Our vocalist Nate began forming the band in late 2024 after singing in a band called Such Cruelty for a few years. When that band broke up, he wanted to start a ’90s beatdown-inspired band, so he started recruiting members from other bands in the scene.”
Their sound in their own words:
“Modern beatdown with a technical flair inspired by PA and NYC beatdown bands from the late ’90s/early 2000s.
"Some of our influences are No Retreat, Built Upon Frustration, One Second Thought, and Denied.”
Latest release info:
“We’re about to release a split with another Greenville band called Rakshasa later this month. The goal was to meet in the middle sonically between evil and violent, with both bands taking influence from one another when writing for this release. Not to give too much away, but the Cry Blood side has an insane feature that many people wouldn’t expect.”
Future plans:
“We have a hometown release show for the split EP on October 23 supporting Year of the Knife, a few unannounced dates for later in the year with some wild lineups, as well as a few regional festivals.”
What other bands from their region should we check out?
“Our drummer and bassist have another band called Dangerous Game. Rakshasa, who we’ll be releasing the split with this month, and Show Mercy are also from Greenville. Shoutout to Held Back from Atlanta, too. Those are all the homies, and they should definitely be on your radar.”
