Band: DWM (Die with Me)
From: Atlanta, Georgia

Their formation story:
(Wayne Shores, vocals): "It all started for DWM (Die with Me) in 2018 when I first met Ian Dehner, our drummer. Some friends and I were booking gigs in the living room out of my house in Columbus, Georgia; on one of those nights, Ian’s band at the time opened the show. I introduced myself to him after their set and we became friends from that point on. Eventually it lead to us meeting regularly and writing the material for our first EP.

"It took us some time to refine what we were trying to create and emulate, but we both had musical interests in nü metal, grunge, and metalcore. When we came into this, we knew we wanted something tasteful, refreshing, and nostalgic. After several months and multiple attempts, we finally completed the EP with everything we had worked on. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit the U.S. not long after this.

"Since shows were at a halt, we didn’t see a point in coming out with the material until there was a return to some normalcy. Once shows started back around, we became invested in practicing and touring with Living In Fear, and this carried on from 2020-2022. By February of 2022, we were still feeling confident in our material and dropped our first EP, Past Pains. Also, for those who weren’t aware, we stole our name from a Type O Negative track—you’re going to have to look that one up."

Their sound in their own words:
"Die with Me delivers a passionate, dissonant sound through our raw vocals, biting drums, and heavy riffs. When considering where we pull from the most, bands like (early) Underoath, Killswitch Engage, and As I Lay Dying come to mind. Most of our inspiration comes from early prototype metalcore—H8000 era bands and all different types of metal. We’re also fond of American edge metal in the realm of xAFBx, and Recon."

Latest release info:
Psalms Unspoken is a sentimental piece about past experiences that I’ve been through. Many of the lyrics are about circumstances and events that I don’t really talk about, and the only way I’m able to express and shed light on these experiences is through the art of music. A lot of what I’m talking about relays to my life in the military and the outlook that I used to have on the world.

"Not to sound cliché, but every song is a piece of who I once was. As for the instrumentation, this EP was a collective effort from everyone involved—past and present—in the band."

Latest release info:
"We’re definitely still focused on promoting our latest music as of right now, but we have our record release show lined up—Saturday, April 12th at the Murph in Atlanta—and can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.

"Over the next few months, we’ll be playing shows as often as possible, and we may just be dropping some new music with a few bands you might have heard of…"

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Numbskull ATL, Silver Ossuary, Turn Cold, Can’t Keep Up, Tsuris, Fleshless Body, xallofgodschildrenx, Between You & God, Primitive Rage, GUMM, Shades of War, Return to Pain, Switchblade, Double Tap, Clot, GutBust, Feeling Lucky, Forlorn, Reason to Hate, Path to Failure, Seasons End, Powers That Be, Peptide, Realm of None, and Kong Style."
