Band: Fight Them
From: Quebec City, Québec

Their formation story:
(Simon, guitar): “In the winter of 2024, I reached out to Will about forming a band. We always liked the same music, and he had helped me record some demos before. He agreed instantly and brought in Felix on drums, whom he knew from a previous band. We invited Mike in for his world-class bass skills, and also because he would lend me one of his 4x12s. I had already asked Nic to sing on the demos I recorded with Will, so he was a natural addition.

“We’ve been jamming every week since then. We all share a similar taste in hardcore music, so we come up with a lot of ideas. We also come from different backgrounds as musicians and songwriters. Sometimes it can be tricky, but mostly it’s a very potent source of inspiration. I think, in the end, it’s what makes the band even more relevant and unique.”

Their sound in their own words:
“Classic, groovy, and powerful hardcore. A sweet mix of NYHC, Baltimore, the late-2000s Lockin’ Out Records sound, and the West Coast, too.

“Influences: Trapped Under Ice, Cold World, Outbreak, Turnstile, and Backtrack. For fans of these bands, obviously, but also for fans of ninjas and alien B-movies.”

Latest release info:
“It’s a three-song EP recorded in Saint-Roch, Quebec City, with our pal Le Venin. He did an incredible job of making it sound huge.

“At the time of recording, we settled on three songs. Two of them are the very first songs we wrote back in 2024. The other one is a banger that we put together in just a few days, right before going into the studio.

“It sounds great, the artwork is awesome, and we grew a lot as a band through the recording process. We came out of it as stronger and wiser beings.”

Future plans:
“We’ve got a few shows lined up for the end of summer and fall. We’re perpetually writing new stuff, so eventually we’ll end up with a bunch of new songs that we’ll want to record. Best-case scenario, sometime during the winter.

“One of those upcoming shows is opening for Madball and Combust here at home, so that’s pretty cool. Right after that, we play with Iron Crusaders from Montreal and Dulse from the Maritimes in the low-ceiling basement of a record store. If we can pack this show, it’s shaping up to be an epic night. These bands are so fucking good. Go listen to Dulse’s Maritime Style ’25 album and try not to mosh your furniture.”

What other bands from their region should we check out?
“We just celebrated 15 years of Apes, and I hear there’s other cool stuff coming their way. The heaviest band that I personally know.

“For One Hate has a new record out for fans of that slam-metal/beatdown debauchery that’s sweeping the nation’s youth. Check out Lethal QC, Thalion, and Fiasco as well.

“We just shared the stage with Baboune and Enfants Sauvages, who successively proceeded to tear up the stage. Absolutely catch them live if you have the chance.

“And, of course, check out Get the Shot and Don’t Try, two hardcore powerhouses from Québec. You can never go wrong with either of them.”
