Cold Brick: Budapest Hardcore Unit Stomp It Out on Debut Release

The brotherhood is strong within the ranks of Cold Bricks, a new hardcore band from Hungary. As bassist Levi tells No Echo, the quintet was founded by members of the hardcore community in and around Budapest. "We knew each other from shows and later formed as members of the MinerXCore fanzine (Bence, Karafatyi, Levi), along with Ilia and Matyi. Three out of the five members have already played in several bands in both Hungary and Russia (BigXFoot, Partybreaker)."

Cold Brick launched earlier this year via a 6-song EP called Stomp It Out. "We don’t fit neatly into any subgenre," says Levi. "We play heavy riffs, with elements of two-step and mosh! Cro-Mags, Biohazard, and No Warning have definitely had a large influence on our style."

Hearing their Cold Brick's bassist tell it, Stomp It Out was truly a cathartic experience for all involved. "We wrote six songs last summer and would describe the process as smooth and joyful. We recorded the demo in our rehearsal room with András Timár (Escalate), who handled the mixing and mastering as well."

With Stomp It Out now available on music streaming outlets, Cold Brick are looking forward to getting busy both on stage and in the studio again. "We are preparing for our next show with Tchert (CZ) and Wires, and we plan to write new songs for an LP. Additionally, we are looking for a label to release our music overseas.. The EP will be released on tape via Youth For Peace Brigade Records (part of MinerXCore)."

We weren't going to let Levi go without some music tips from Cold Brick's backyard: "Definitely check out Erased, Escalate, Exterminating Angel, Gear, Rompo, Touch, and Wires from Hungary!"
