Beatdown is Fortunes TX's business and business has been good since they formed back in 2012. The Lone Star State quintet counts Black My Heart, Xibalba, and Thick As Blood as some of their prime musical influences, and they've released three EPs throughout the years.
For their next chapter, Fortunes TX have signed on with Upstate Records (Decoy, Fury of Five) who will be releasing the follow-up to the band's A New Era of Violence EP from last year.
Today, Fortunes TX dropped the music video for "Underdog Mentality," their first single through their new label partnership:
Fortunes TX guitarist Travis Cortez said the following about the track's lyrics:
"Growing up in southeast San Antonio, we always felt like the odds were stacked against us. We weren't supposed to win, but we did. 'Underdog Mentality' for all of ya just like us. Embrace the struggle, stay hungry and prove that no matter what, you can rise above and preserve. Being the underdog just means you have more to fight for."
"Underdog Mentality" arrives on digital streaming platforms on May 2nd via Upstate Records.
