About the Author

Genesis Tillman

My name is Genesis Tillman, I’m a black queer 26-year-old photographer based in Atlanta. I’ve been taking photos since the start of the pandemic. I initially got into it by taking pictures at nature parks by myself. After everything started to open up again I became involved in the local underground punk/hardcore music scene here in Atlanta by capturing the raw, unfiltered energy of the community during shows, both big and small. I mainly favor black and white photography, as I typically don’t like a lot of color, I tend to find it overwhelming. I believe my photography showcases a unique perspective, and that I have an ability to capture the emotions and intensity of both the performers and crowds alike. With each shot, I tell a story and invite viewers to experience the exhilarating energy of Atlanta’s underground music scene. Whether I’m shooting live shows or personal pictures of my own, my work is always bold, passionate, and unapologetic. I am still learning, but I’ve come a great deal of a long way since I started. I currently have my own Instagram page, and a soon to be finished website where I showcase my work.
