Internal Bleeding has been a prime influence in the hardcore and slam-driven side of the death metal spectrum for decades now, so the following news should come as no surprise. The Long Island quintet have just inked a deal with Maggot Stomp, home to many bands they've inspired through the years.
"It had to be 1994 or '95 when I first heard Internal Bleeding, I had gotten the Invocation of Evil 7-inch," Maggot Stomp founder Scott Magrath told me via email. "Their sound was perfect...death metal with a healthy dose of NYHC mixed in. There was crossover hardcore/thrash happening, so why couldn't there be crossover hardcore/death metal? Voracious Contempt was a multiple times per day daily listen."
"There's like a small bucket list of bands that I want to work with, pipedream type shit. And IB were at the top of that list. So when the opportunity actually presented itself I was taken back a bit. I wasn't shocked but I still had to pinch myself. I feel like I understand the band, where they're from, what they've done and what they still have to accomplish. I hope I can do right by them and help them create future memories for a new generation of kids in their early 20s. Internal Bleeding were and still are a band to be reckoned with."
Internal Bleeding's debut for Maggot Stomp is currently in their works at Full Force Studios with Joe Cincotta (Obituary, Suffocation). Internal Bleeding will have the sessions mixed by Taylor Young (Kruelty, Xibalba).
In addition to the label news, Internal Bleeding have also announced three Southern California shows in October, before going to Hawaii and Australia for the first time.
