No Life is a band from the Aotearoa region of New Zealand that formed during the COVID lockdowns there in 2021. "We had all been friends since we were teenagers and wanted to make heavy, pissed-off music where we could lay ourselves bare," vocalist Connor Dickson tells No Echo about their formation.
On the style side, here's how Connor describes No Life's sound: "DnB-core [laughs]. All jokes aside, we love heavy, low-tuned riffs with crushing breakdowns and drum n bass (EDM) sprinkled in there to give it something different. Our main influences would be Emmure, ten56., Graphic Nature, and The Prodigy."
A few weeks back, No Life dropped a single called "One Hitter" across streaming outlets featuring ten56. on the collab front:
"'One Hitter' was fully self-produced and engineered by the band with Buster Odeholm (Thrown, Humanity's Last Breath) handling the mixing, we have been big fans of his for a long time, so we had to have him mix our favourite song to date. Lyrically, the song is just a pissed-off fight track, I come from a boxing/kickboxing background so I wanted to write a heavy mosh song."
Connor says No Echo readers should take notice of the local music community No Life proudly is part of. "The scene in Aotearoa, New Zealand is popping off! Though ‘core is more niche in the realm of heavy music in NZ, it is slowly growing. Ones to check out and keep an eye on are our close friends The Rising Tide, who just dropped a banger of a track called “Cyanide” (feat. DEPTHS)."
