Shoveled: Turin Hardcore Band Blends NYHC, Beatdown & an Unlikely Mix of Influences

Shoveled is a relatively new name in the Turin, Italy, hardcore scene, but the band has wasted little time getting things moving. Formed in early 2025, the group dealt with initial lineup instability before adding a second guitarist that May and settling into their current lineup with the arrival of their drummer earlier this year.

Once those pieces were in place, Shoveled turned their attention to writing, recording, and playing live.

At its core, the band considers itself hardcore, with NYHC and beatdown providing much of the foundation. Guitarists Davide and his bandmate cite Terror, Deathtape, and Sunami as influences, but things get considerably more varied when you look at the rest of the lineup.

“Our drummer draws inspiration from a more classic style, like early Title Fight; our bassist takes cues from Green Day; and our singer draws from Mayhem,” Davide tells No Echo. “Many different genres that, however, help us express the music we make.”

That blend of influences is evident on Shoveled’s debut album, Scream With No Lungs. The record addresses both personal and social themes. The opening track, “The Power of Useless,” targets the relentless pace and consumerism of modern life, while the album’s closer, “Pillars,” comes from a much more personal place.

“We affirm that the only things that keep us standing are love and hardcore,” Davide explains. “We define them as the pillars of our lives.”

With their debut now out, Shoveled plans to play more shows throughout Turin and Northern Italy this fall and winter. They’re already working on a second album, with the band experimenting more heavily with guitar parts this time around.

Davide also highlights a strong hardcore movement around the band in Italy and recommends three other groups for No Echo readers to check out: Udine hardcore band Bowie, the rawer, more traditional hardcore of Subliminal, and Confine, who bring a more melodic approach to the genre.
