Northern Colorado's Tightspot started in 2023 with two best friends, vocalist Ben and drummer Ryan, wanting to play something heavier than their previous projects.
After finding guitarist Paul at the tattoo shop where Ryan works, the band began writing, but things stalled when Ben went back to school. During the downtime, Ryan met bassist Marshall, also through tattooing, and Tightspot finally held their first full-band rehearsal in late 2025.
Musically, the guys in Tightspot are most moved by the early 2000s hardcore sound, including bands like Rise and Fall, Death Threat, Down to Nothing, Death Before Dishonor, and No Warning.
"We wanted to make hardcore that feels urgent and real, all while not taking ourselves too seriously," Ryan tells No Echo about their recently released demo.
Up next, Tightspot plans to play more shows and start work on another EP. "We are just regular guys with jobs, and half of us have kids, so the train isn't always rolling as fast as we would like, but we still make it happen."
As far as bands in the current Colorado hardcore scene, Ryan also recommends checking out Hammerhead, Tunnel Jumper, Wideman, Chain Law, Ukkos Hammer, Destiny Bond, Talking Point, TimeXHeist, and Primal Fury.
