Treasure Pains: North Carolina Post-Hardcore Band Debuts with Striking EP

Meet Treasure Pains, a new band out of Durham, North Carolina featuring members of Youth League and Wolvesx4. The quartet specializes in a sound that carries the angular and driving sound of post-hardcore with vibrant melodies coursing through it all.

"No one has shied away from the fact that our first goal was to write music as an homage to Hot Snakes," Treasure Pains' own Zach Large tells No Echo. "It has become its own thing and is generally aggressive with a healthy bit of melody, but that was the initial heading. Our individual influences are all over the place, but we're all fans of Hot Snakes, Gouge Away, Meatwave, Fiddlehead, Metz, etc., and that is the common thread for this band."

Tomorrow, Treasure Pains will be releasing their Wiretap Records debut EP, Charming. Luckily for our readers, we know people in high places and got an early stream of the EP for you all to soak in the striking collection:

No Echo asked Zach how Trasure Pains hooked up with Wiretap Records for the EP. "Both Kyle and my other bands have done releases with Wiretap in the past. Having a really good relationship with Rob on past album's, and wanting to hit the ground running, we felt that Treasure Pains EP would be in good hands."

As we always do on the website, No Echo asked Zach about the regional scene they're part of and how it's cooking right now. "The band is from Durham, North Carolina, one part of what we call the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill). The Triangle (and NC in general - all love to the Triad, Wilmington, and WNC) has historically had a great music scene, and we think that remains true today.

"As for local bands, you should check out Snide and Super Reg. Both of which will be playing our release show!"

Charming will be out tomorrow (October 18th) via Wiretap Records (pre-save here).
