Congatulations going out to Whispers who just announced the forthcoming release of Yom-Ma-Lok, their debut release on Flatspot Records. When I chatted with label co-owner Ricky Singh during this past summer, he told me they had signed the Thai metallic hardcore outfit, but it was still on the hush.
This is a big look for Whispers and builds on the momentum the band first ignited with their 2021 Narok Bon Din EP. Hitting the studio in Spring 2024, the quintet worked with Suchai at Sixthirty Recording Studio in Bangkok on what would become Yom-Ma-Lok.
The 7-track EP will include vocal features from Jem Siow of Speed, Shaun Alexander of Demonstration of Power, and perhaps most intriguingly, Stephen Bessac of French antagonizers, Kickback.
Whispers have also released a music video for lead single “Retribution," which is perfect for the Halloween season:
Whispers vocalist Nitisart “Mike” Chaiburi said the following about the track:
“The main idea of writing this song came from my own belief that In the end, we cannot escape the consequences of the karma that we have done unjustly to each other. Even if you are big in the sky or have a lot of power, fame, and money, you cannot use those things to wash away your sins or replace the things you have done wrong to the hearts of others.
"We see this kind of thing continually in every social context without exception because we believe that even though we are just small humans, we have enormous desires. So we look for and want to rely on others for help anyway. In order for these people to not feel alone and discouraged, I have come to spread their frustration.”

Yom-Ma-Lok will be released on December 13th via Flatspot Records.
