Vic Bondi has been a hardcore frontman longer than most people in the scene have been alive! Bondi has fronted bands such as Articles of Faith, Alloy, and Dead Ending, the latter featuring members of Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Noise by Numbers, and The Bomb.
He's also worked with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and his Weatherman project, and was featured in the seminal hardcore documentary American Hardcore.
This past May, Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles label issued the self-titled EP from Vic Bondi and His Issues. Written in Seattle and recorded over two days at Soundhouse Recording Studio, the EP marks Bondi’s 27th release. Jello Biafra suggested the record's title, and the songs show Bondi continuing to address political and social issues rather than looking back on his decades in hardcore.
Vic Bondi and His Issues will be heading out on tour this month with The Crosses, the band featuring Daniel Kubinski of the legendary Die Kreuzen. Click here to check out my chat with Daniel. Both bands feature Midwest hardcore legends, and both will perform at this year’s The Fest.
I spoke with Vic about playing shows, his decades-long history in hardcore, and more. Check out the video interview below:
