Circle Jerks have announced Revenge of Nervous Breakdown, a new four-song EP featuring the band’s takes on songs from vocalist Keith Morris’ original tenure in Black Flag.
Due out November 20, it marks the first standalone Circle Jerks release in more than 30 years.
The EP features new recordings of “Depression,” “Fix Me,” “Revenge,” and “Nervous Breakdown.” Two originally appeared on Black Flag’s landmark 1979 Nervous Breakdown EP, while the other two date back to Morris’ shelved Damaged sessions.
Revenge of Nervous Breakdown was recorded at Rancid guitarist/vocalist Tim Armstrong’s The Boat studio and produced and engineered by Raul “Riff” Cuellar. The EP will be available digitally and on 7" vinyl, CD, and cassette, featuring new artwork by longtime Black Flag collaborator Raymond Pettibon.
Circle Jerks also have a busy stretch of live dates ahead. On November 14, they’ll perform at Darker Waves in Huntington Beach alongside Morrissey, The Smashing Pumpkins, Simple Minds, Bad Religion, Adam Ant, The Damned, Buzzcocks, Gary Numan, Marky Ramone, and more than 35 artists across three stages.
In December, the band will head out on a run of California dates, pairing live performances with screenings of the 1984 cult classic Repo Man, which famously featured the band performing “Coup d’État.” The shows begin on December 4 in Sacramento and include stops in Monterey, San Francisco, Fresno, Los Angeles, and Gardena.
