Lockslip, a metallic hardcore band rooted in Los Angeles, is set to release their debut full-length, The Conversation, on November 6. The album arrives via Bleakhouse, the label founded by musician King Yosef.
First profiled on No Echo in 2024, the band brings together Sara G (also known for her work in Entry) on vocals, guitarists TJ Jaeger and Nick Pinder, bassist Enrique Isla-Eisenacher, and drummer Noah Baxter.
"We think of ourselves as a blend of mathcore, metalcore, and hardcore, while not wanting to be limited to those labels," says G.
The first track to surface from The Conversation is "Gray World," featuring guest vocals from King Yosef. G points to Lois Lowry's novel The Giver as a key inspiration, especially its exploration of pain, pleasure, and what is lost when both are given up.
"The state of the world is complex, it's dark, and it's unpredictable, so we want to write music that reflects those anxieties," G explains.
The album brings in Todd Jones of Nails on "Iconoclast" and Kathryn Edwards of Thirdface on "Paradise Is Not for Us." Baxter took on recording and mixing duties at Dichotic Studios in East Los Angeles, with mastering by Nick Townsend, known for his work with Nails and Angel Du$t.
Lockslip has toured alongside Scalp and False Body, and will make their way to Gainesville, Florida this fall for The Fest.
