New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Paresthesia

Band: Paresthesia
From: Reading, UK

Their formation story:
(Brea, vocals): “We all met through the University of Reading. Despite us all taking different classes, we became friends through the rock and metal society due to a shared love of hardcore and a desire to form a band and play live!”

Their sound in their own words:
“Paresthesia is a hardcore death metal band. We take inspiration from a range of bands like Arkangel, Bolt Thrower, Bulldoze, and Straight Savage Style, as well as our own personal favorite bands and influences around us.

“While we call ourselves hardcore death metal, we incorporate different styles of hardcore and metal, such as fast hardcore and sludge-inspired riffs. This keeps it interesting and fun for us to put out music that we enjoy playing rather than being tied down to one particular sound.”

Latest release info:
“Surgical Malpractice comprises five tracks that have been written and worked on since the formation of the band, ranging in style and topic. The intro is a short and fun hype track. ‘A Message’ is sort of a funny song for us, as the lyrics are your average ‘tough guy’ lyrics. However, none of us are tough, either in looks or personality [laughs].

“‘Take Responsibility’ is one of our more serious tracks, as it covers anti-war material. It’s also one of the first songs we wrote as a band. ‘Unite’ is about scene unity, coming together through hard times, and pushing out those who come into the scene with ill intent. ‘Surgical Malpractice’ is just your classic gross death metal track, with lyrics comprising lots of medical terms, which is also a reference to our band name since paresthesia is a medical term!”

Future plans:
“Our future plans mainly consist of playing more shows. We wanna play more parts of the UK, as well as potentially outside of the UK, too, with some belter lineups and fests. We also hope to release more music in the near future. We currently have two songs written that are just waiting to be recorded.”

What other bands from their region should we check out?
“Bands out of Reading you should check out are Detriment, Kilfash, and Rung Out!”
