Hard to Ignore is the latest in a long line of Boston hardcore bands formed by scene veterans, a tribute to the city’s ongoing tradition of reinvention and resilience.
The band formed after the end of Scars of Deceit and Barfight Champs, bringing together members whose backgrounds span Betrayed By All, Death Before Dishonor, Back of tha Neck, The Homefront, and The Welch Boys.
“We are all hardcore lifers who have been in numerous bands over the years,” vocalist Frankie Creighton tells No Echo. “We got together with the intent of playing the style of heavy hardcore that we all love.”
Musically, Hard to Ignore make their intentions clear. Creighton calls their sound 'heavy metallic hardcore,' citing Merauder, Knuckledust, Stigmata, Terror, and 100 Demons as key influences. Their debut EP, Victim Mentality, captures that approach in full.
“We are happy to finally have some music out,” Creighton says. “Now that our EP is out, we have started booking some shows.”
Among those upcoming dates is an appearance at Congress Hardcore Festival in Puerto Rico on October 10. Creighton also gave a paid tribute to several Puerto Rican bands No Echo readers should have on their radar, including Secret Bound, Donnie Brasko, Los Brothers, Cold Times, Perzevera, Infectoria, Crown Thief, and Clear Convictions.
With Victim Mentality out, Hard to Ignore are already looking ahead to more live dates.
